The history of women is not just a supplement to the history of men. The history of women is a kind of putting things straight, seeing it from a different angle, re-exploring and re-writing the history of mankind, as it has happened since the 70s when the women’s liberation movement started.

We live in a man’s world, in many respects men are treated more preferentially and they are more dominant when it comes to the writing of history. But I would like to bring the history of women into focus with the motto HERSTORY instead of HISSTORY.

The history of the region and its towns within and outside Vorarlberg will be looked at through the eyes of a woman.
Like anywhere else the role of women in the history of Vorarlberg has always been seen as secondary to that of man. Women of all classes, aristocracy, middle- or working class were in many cases discriminated and they were often regarded as being obstinate if they tried to stand up for themselves
 
The reality of life for women today will be compared with the living conditions of women in former times. The history of women is by no means invisible if you look at historic buildings, monuments or memorials.
